Mountain Safety Research – When everything depends on the right equipment to keep you alive.
To address the demands of an environment where life and death literally rest in the palms of your hands, there was a necessity to develop a brand that underscored the severity and value of MSR's products.
Opportunity:
Until this juncture, MSR was primarily recognized as a company excelling in the creation of world-class outdoor stoves. The challenge was to convey the diverse range of products designed for outdoor survival. However, without a cohesive brand, this task risked being fragmented.
Solution:
Drawing inspiration from human instinct, I created a plan to design a simple system that utilized color and hand placement on product to dictate the application of how color was applied on products. This was supported by a brand identity focused on utility.
